When a company that got its start manufacturing structures in an abandoned chicken coop in rural Georgia continues to thrive more than four decades later, it is because its ownership is willing to do whatever it takes to stay afloat.

The relocation of an affordable and mixed-income rental housing community in Boston’s Allston/Brighton neighborhood is proceeding as planned. General contractors and construction managers John Moriarty and Associates are constructing 22 buildings that will constitute the $100 million, 240-unit complex Charlesview Residences at Brighton Mills. The first tenants of the new complex are expected to take occupancy in phases starting in June 2013, with the final residents in place by the end of August, project manager John Viola says.

Located along 360-acres on the shores of North Lake, close to both Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas, Cypress Waters – a mixed-use residential, office, industrial and retail complex – is one of Billingsley Company’s most ambitious projects to date.

The commercial and residential real estate developer purchased 1,000 acres in total in 2003 and had to work with the surrounding communities to develop a plan that would benefit the new tenants without disrupting the life of the established neighborhoods in the area.

 By September 2013, downtown Orlando, Fla., will add a new luxury high-rise apartment structure to its skyline. Called SkyHouse Orlando, the tower is being constructed by the well-respected and highly experienced Batson-Cook Construction, which is about to complete SkyHouse Midtown in Atlanta.

The SkyHouse complex will be a 23-story building, with 320 high-end units constructed as one-, two- and three-bedroom layouts. The 369,500-square-foot building will boast units that are much larger than the average apartment, each featuring elegant floor-to-ceiling windows, granite kitchen and bathroom countertops and hardwood flooring.
