It is not often that a firm gets the opportunity to work on a location with such historical significance like Pearl Harbor. The Walsh Group is building the third phase of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) new pacific regional headquarters at Fort Island, which is located in the center of Pearl Harbor.

When an organization like the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center earns a reputation as one of the leading academic medical centers in the country, it is not in a position where it can rest on its laurels. Instead, it has to make sure it continues providing patients with care in state-of-the-art facilities.

RBC Construction Corp. is drawing on its innovative construction know-how and its staff’s years of experience to build a military facility in Puerto Rico. The Cataño, Puerto Rico-based general contractor in February 2012 will begin work on the $12.3 million Caguas Army Reserve Center. The center consists of two sites: an Army Reserve National Guard training facility in Puerto Nuevo and support facilities located at Fort Buchanan, the sole active U.S. Army base in the Caribbean.

Since 1894, Parkland has established a legacy of healthcare in Dallas County, Texas. Now, the hospital plans to move to a new facility that will allow it to continue serving patients’ medical needs. Walter Jones, Parkland’s senior vice president of facilities, says the $1.27 billion campus is being built across the street from the hospital’s current location, which has long been overcrowded. When the original facility was built in 1954, it only served half the patients that it has today.

As the population of Dallas swelled throughout the years, the modest church on Akard Street has been transformed into a stately religious institution with a sprawling campus that is now badly in need of an upgrade.

When planning the construction of a new school, a school district’s primary focus is to ensure the building is structured to encourage students’ best performance. This was the desire of the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) in Texas when it was planning the construction of the Jean McClung Middle School. But it also wanted to create a school building that itself was be high-performing.

In designing and building a structure for the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) that will help transform the way renewable energy connects to the grid, it only makes sense that the energy efficiency of the building itself is a paramount concern.
