In 2008, when China Construction America got started as the general contractor for the construction of Clinton High School in Laurens County, S.C., it had experience on its side. Not long before, the company had completed two other high schools in similar size and scope, and it was confident its expertise would meet the needs of Clinton High School.

Brasfield & Gorrie is a full-service general contracting, construction management and design/build service provider with a mission statement that declares it will “build with integrity while exceeding the expectations of our clients, business partners, employees and communities.” Its success is based on the fact that Brasfield & Gorrie delivers what it promises.

It is a testament to Webcor Builders’ professionalism and reputation throughout the West Coast construction industry that it earned the bid for the $690 million San Francisco General Hospital through its experience on a number of large projects across a variety of sectors – not just in the healthcare field.

Tri-Signal Integration strives to combine the resources and abilities of a large company with the same kind of focus on customer satisfaction that characterizes smaller, “mom-and-pop” firms. “Most of the companies that do what we do are billion-dollar companies, and when you’re at that level, you mainly just care about volume and fall short on customer satisfaction,” says Rett Hicks, executive vice president of the systems integration company.

One of Texas’ fastest-growing school districts is working to increase the capacity of two of its high schools. Round Rock Independent School District is in the second phase of additions to Westwood High School in Austin and Round Rock High School in Round Rock. Both projects will add a combined 230,000 square feet of classroom, cafeteria, theater, gymnasium and other space to the schools. Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is the construction manager at-risk for both projects.

When people look at buildings, they often focus on the structures themselves, and overlook the plant life on the ground that surrounds the building and completes the whole picture. But Kelco Landscaping and Construction focuses on that area, helping clients fully realize their projects.

A devotion to integrity and exceeding client expectations drives the operations of J&S Construction. The Cookeville, Tenn.-based general contractor’s mission is to be a model of excellence for the construction industry. While the company has a history of building projects in the industrial sector, recent years have seen a shift to public and government projects, CEO John D. Stites II says.

After 25 years, ECC has gained a wealth of experience in U.S. government projects, Program Manager Bill Upton says. “Our primary client is the federal government,” he says. “Primarily 90 percent of the work we do is with the Department of Defense.” That previous experience is being put to good use as ECC builds one of the largest design/build task orders in the history of the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment. The contractor is now building two new facilities for the Medical Education Training Complex (METC) at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
