Giving one of the world’s tallest university residence halls a new look inside and out without closing the facility is no easy task. The $15 million renovation of the 28-story Watterson Towers complex on the Illinois State University campus in Normal requires tight deadlines and complex scheduling on the part of the Construction Manager Poettker Construction Company of Breese, Ill.

With the population of Normal, Ill., seeing increases on a regular basis, the number of people needing medical services also will grow. To adjust to that change, the city’s Advocate BroMenn Medical Center is expanding its capabilities with its new expansion project. General contractor P.J. Hoerr Inc. is constructing the $39 million project, which includes a three-story addition to the existing medical center. Assistant Project Manager Tim Bassett adds that the company is also constructing a new lower level.

For President and CEO Wayne Cornell, the success of DZSP 21 LLC has been based upon the passion of its people for their work. “They are focused on pleasing their customers and they take great pride in a job well done,” he says. “It truly is a workforce committed to excellence and continual improvement.”

When completed next summer, Parkview Whitley Hospital will serve as the “ultimate healing environment” for residents of Columbia City, Ind., COO John Meister said in a statement. The Hagerman Group, also based in Fort Wayne, is helping Parkview Whitley fulfill its mission to serve the community’s healthcare needs by managing construction on the $24 million project.

Aside from its reputation for completing complex projects on schedule and within budget, F.J. Sciame Construction Co. sets itself apart from other contractors in the New York City area through its dedicated staff and organizational structure that advocates a hands-on approach to project management.

Even though Pinkerton Academy in Derry, N.H., is a private high school, some surrounding towns send their students to Pinkerton for high school. With the economy sagging in the spring of 2008, the construction of a new three-story building for the freshmen was delayed. The design, development and preconstruction work had been done before that, but the academy wanted to be sensitive to the strained finances of the member communities, Project Manager Aaron Ravenelle remembers.

Dayton, Ohio’s leading healthcare network has teamed with a leader in healthcare construction to build a new medical center that will be just as innovative on the outside as it is inside. The new Indu and Raj Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek, Ohio, will join the Kettering Health Network’s other 60 facilities that employ more than 1,200 physicians.

In 2008, when China Construction America got started as the general contractor for the construction of Clinton High School in Laurens County, S.C., it had experience on its side. Not long before, the company had completed two other high schools in similar size and scope, and it was confident its expertise would meet the needs of Clinton High School.
