Approaching its 20th anniversary, Alpha Mechanical & Air Conditioning Inc. of San Diego says it is a proven industry leader delivering on quality and expertise. A full service mechanical contractor, the company specializes in HVAC, plumbing, hydronics, pipefitting, site utilities, controls technologies, engineering and integration, drawing and drafting, 3D CAD, BIM technology and overall project coordination.

Sure Steel Inc. prides itself on its ability to perform several different types of steel construction projects across different sectors of the marketplace. “The classic steel erection company either does structural steel or pre-engineered metal buildings and typically does not cross over – we do both,” Vice President Joe Melton says.

Lopes Mechanical provides services in the areas of industrial, commercial and institutional process piping, pressure vessels, mechanical, electrical, structural installations as well as HVAC. After 19 years, Flutec has found success by creating solutions for its clients, President Daniel Dominguez says. “We have developed trust in our communities [with our ability] to design and build complex energy efficient systems,” he says. Based in Juarez, Mexico, the design/build mechanical contractor specializes in air conditioning and ventilation projects, clean rooms, energy management and DDC controls, and central plants with hydronic systems, process water, steam and compressed air and vacuums.

Mid-States Concrete Industries of South Beloit, Ill., stands apart from other Midwestern precast concrete companies because it offers the right solutions to its customers’ three biggest dangers: hidden cost, schedule delays and safety concerns, according to Kevin Wald, vice president of operations. “We are known for our quality and for the way we partner with our customers to make their lives easier,” he says.

Roanoke Cement LLC offers more than just its namesake product to its customers. Spreading the word about energy conservation and environmental stewardship is very important to the company, the only active cement plant in the state of Virginia.

Many of the things that make the islands of the Pacific so beautiful and idyllic – the unspoiled landscape, the miles of coastline, the wide oceans that separate them – are the same things that make building on them a special challenge.
