Trevi Galante S.A.

The Trevi Group believes strongly in establishing roots through its many foundation projects worldwide, as well as with its experienced personnel. The company’s recent acquisition of a South American contractor is a key step in its continued growth. Trevi acquired the Panama-based Galante S.A. in 2009, forming the company now known as Trevi Galante S.A.

“The company has been working and has been well-rooted in the markets of Colombia, Peru, Dominican Republic and Venezuela for quite a while,” says Colombo Biserna, area manager for Trevi Galante’s South American operations. “The Trevi Group, which has been operating for some time now with its own direct branches in Argentina and Venezuela, is strengthening its presence in South and Central America, which are deemed booming markets.”

Trevi Group’s other South American holdings are Trevi Cimentaciones Caracas in Venezuela and Pilotes Trevi in Argentina.

“Trevi is a leading company within the foundation market in South America thanks to its attitude toward innovation, which has developed over the years,” Biserna says.

Trevi Galante provides full foundation engineering services, including diaphragm walls, piling works, soil investigations, grouting, consolidation works and micropiles. Recently completed projects include foundation for new bridges and viaducts along the Panama City Motorway and laying down the foundation for the Trump Ocean Club International Hotel and Tower in Panama City.

The company is currently working on the piling foundations for a new terminal at the Tocumen International Airport, which is located just outside of Panama City. Trevi Galante is also working in conjunction with Brazilian Contractor firm Odebrecht on installing secant piles and vertical drain works for the Panama Bay sanitation project, and with contractors GUPC in soil investigation at the Panama Canal, Biserna says.

Worldwide Leader

Trevi Group was founded in Italy in 1957 and has grown to become a worldwide leader in underground engineering. The company has 6,500 employees in 40 locations serving more than 80 countries with a turnover of more than €1.1 billion in 2009, Biserna says.

Biserna says the success of the Trevi Group is based on the interaction between its numerous divisions. They are:

  • Trevi Division, which carries out specialized services within the foundation engineering;
  • Soilmec Division, which produces and develops rigs and systems for the foundation engineering;
  • Petreven Division, which supplies oil drilling services; and
  • Drillmec Division, which produces and develops oil, gas and water drilling rigs.

In South America, Trevi works with local and international contractors on infrastructure projects, including bridges, dams, industrial plants, ports and railways. The company prides itself on quality, innovation, project flexibility, and a strong emphasis on safety.

“Trevi Group is the technological point-of-reference partner in the field of engineering projects for underground work and for research and development of water and energy resources,” the company says. “The group makes development, research and design its underlying mission and intends to dedicate itself with commitment and passion towards the construction of useful bases for the socioeconomic development of many cultures and of the environment.”

The company operates a training school known as the Foundations Technology Academy, which develops courses in its main offices as well as its overseas subsidiaries, Biserna says. In 1995, Trevi earned UNI-EN ISO 9002 certification, which ensures that its quality system meets strict European standards.

“We plan, execute and offer technologies and innovative services for any kind of work in the field of foundation engineering,” the company says. “Our vision is [to become] the main technological partner in the field of soil foundation engineering.”
