Holland Pump

For 37 years, Holland Pump has been providing fast and effective dewatering solutions for numerous markets. The company’s expertise ranges from residential and commercial construction to phosphate mining, paper mills, power plants and beyond.

Since its founding in 1978, Holland Pump has been involved in the manufacture, sale, distribution, rental and servicing of pumps. Holland Pump supplies equipment to projects including municipal stormwater, utilities and lift stations. Further, the company has extensive experience in the sugar industry and has been involved with many Florida water management projects, including dewatering for the last three U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects in Collier County, Fla.

The manufacturing division of the company produces as many as 300 diesel-driven systems each year. Holland pump also maintains a fleet of more than 600 diesel rental pumps deployed throughout the South. The corporate, manufacturing and central repair facilities are all located at Holland Pump’s headquarters in West Palm Beach, Fla., but the company also has branch operations in the Florida cities of Pensacola, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Fort Myers and the town of Walterboro, S.C.

“We’re an old school company with traditional values and we have achieved a strong reputation by consistently satisfying our customers,” says Win Blodgett, who has served as company president since 2007. “We are all about teamwork. We demand a lot of our employees because we promise to deliver solutions to our customers on a 24/7 basis. Our average employee has been with us for 10 years and our senior management team has between 20 and 35 years of service to Holland Pump.”

Fast Focus

Holland Pump prides itself on helping customers finish jobs faster while reducing the cost of operations. To accomplish those goals, the company says it delivers top-quality equipment with technological advantages, careful engineering and fabrication, professional pump consulting and excellent field service. Holland Pump equipment has capacities from 500 gallons per minute to 150,000 gallons per minute, suitable for a wide range of jobs.

To make sure systems are running properly, Holland Pump offers the Electronic Engine 70K Series Holland Automatic Notification System (HANS) and the Mechanical Engine 10K Series HANS, which are capable of 24/7 monitoring to eliminate unknown pump shutdowns and prevent costly downtime. When a problem occurs, HANS sends notifications to cell phones or digital pagers to alert the customer of the issue.

The monitor also automatically reports engine hours and locations on a weekly basis to keep clients informed on how the pumps are being used. Additionally, the HANS system can reduce fuel costs by remotely and automatically starting and stopping units on float systems to optimize power consumption.

Well Pointing

The manufacture, sale and service of hydraulically driven submersible and axial flow propeller pumps have been the company’s focus for nearly four decades, but Holland Pump has formed key alliances to expand into well pointing, the creation of shallow abstraction wells to control groundwater for dewatering operations. “We have a long partnership with our sister company, LobePro, which specializes in positive displacement rotary lobe pumps most commonly used for well pointing applications, ” Blodgett says.

In recent years, Holland Pump has increasingly focused on well point installations for large residential and commercial foundation projects, as well as for traditional applications such as sewer pipe and stormwater installations and for rehabilitation work. “On Florida’s west coast, one of Holland Pump’s most exciting projects is the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa, which is undergoing a  $250 million expansion to add nearly 100 guest rooms, and double its meeting and event space to attract more conferences and exhibits,” Blodgett says. “When construction is complete in 2017, the hotel will become the only oceanfront JW Marriott in the continental United States. There are dozens of contractors working in unison and we have been able to supply several contractors with their dewatering needs.”

Environmental Efforts

Throughout its history, Holland Pump has considered the environmental impact of its products. Holland Pump was the first pump rental company to adapt its entire fleet to use biodegradable hydraulic fuels and the first to install telemetry systems for predictive failure and fault response. The HANS monitoring system also lessens the environmental impact of faulty pumps by more quickly altering customers to service issues.

Holland Pump’s environmental mindset goes beyond the work site. Its fleet of more than 600 rental pumps can be deployed to deliver emergency pumping during man-made and natural disasters such as hurricanes, oil spills and floods. The company is a registered emergency pump provider for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers.

No matter what the application, Holland Pump is able to deliver the service clients need. “As professional pump consultants, we help evaluate your needs and craft a cost-effective solution to repair your existing system, to engineer and fabricate a replacement pump system if required and to provide temporary pumping as needed,” Blodgett says.
