With the warmer temperatures of spring quickly approaching, now is a great time to take on a few "spring cleaning" tasks not just around your home, but around your commercial building as well. After all, your commercial building has likely been through a lot over the harsh, cold months of winter. Here are a few spring cleaning maintenance tips that you'll want to follow to ensure that your building is ready inside and out for the warmer seasons.

Check for Water Damage

You've heard the saying, "April showers bring May flowers." Well, an important part of maintaining your commercial building this time of year is making sure that it's properly sealed and protected from all those rain showers that are sure to come. This means taking the time to give your commercial roof a detailed, professional inspection; this will allow you to note any leaks or other potential roofing problems so that you can make the necessary repairs before any major damage occurs.

Spruce Up Landscaping

The frigid months of winter likely wrecked the landscaping outside your commercial building, so now is a good time to start working on spring and summer landscaping. Doing so will help boost the curb appeal of your commercial property, which can make it more attractive to potential customers and clients. Some possible landscaping steps you'll want to take this spring include fertilizing any grass surrounding your property, planting new seed in any areas of dead grass, and setting a schedule to water any grass/plants on your property.

Now is also a good time to assess the parking lots and walkways on the property. Be sure to fill or patch any large cracks or holes that could otherwise become a liability to your business.

Take Preventative Measures

Spring and summer are certainly beautiful, but are also a common time for unwanted pests to gather around your commercial property. Ants, roaches, beetles and even rodents can become a major problem if the right preventative measures aren't taken. Spend some time in the next few weeks spraying around the perimeter of your commercial building with a pest spray, and make sure to complete a visual inspection of the building's perimeter to make sure there aren't any holes or gaps where critters could gain access.

Schedule Window Washing

Your commercial building's windows are likely looking a little dull from debris buildup during winter, so consider scheduling a professional window-washing service to clean your windows inside and out. You may be surprised at how much of a difference clean windows make with your company's curb appeal. Not to mention, cleaner windows let in more light, which creates a more energizing environment for your employees and customers alike.

By taking the time to complete these spring-cleaning maintenance tasks, your commercial building will be ready for warmer weather in no time!
