Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Moreau Industries takes its industrial construction services around the world.

Premier Business Partners:

Panels & Pipes

The slogan of Moreau Industries is “all over the world,” and the company has combined this global focus with a nearly all-encompassing array of services. The Edmonton, Alberta, Canada contractor has a long history of providing services for industrial, mechanical and electrical construction, and its projects can be found from western Canada to South America.

The company says it has been a reliable and trusted contractor for decades, and continues to be a significant presence primarily in Canada, but also throughout the world. “Established in 1977, Moreau rapidly became a reference in the industry,” the company says. “With a national and international reputation, the company performs its expertise everywhere there is a challenge to undertake,” it continues.

“For over 30 years, Moreau has cut itself a place amongst the most important firms of the country.”

The company says that its portfolio of services is bolstered by a culture of quality that permeates every aspect of its work, as well as a dedication to safety that values common sense above all. Moreau Industries says that it believes its mission is “to be a profitable enterprise in the construction industry, committed to offering quality work which exceeds the customer’s expectations.”

Many of the company’s current projects, including a water treatment plant in Vancouver and a plant for Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. in the western Canadian oil sands, demonstrate the company’s variety of competencies and dedication, it says. Moreau Industries completed several different aspects of these projects and many others like them, which the company says give the chance to succeed in several different areas.

Full Toolbox
One wouldn’t expect a contractor to successfully complete a job if he or she only had one tool in his or her toolbox and, likewise, a truly successful company must be able to perform more than one task on a job site to have more opportunities for success. Moreau Industries says it follows this model by bringing multiple capabilities to bear on projects.
    The company’s services include:

  • Industrial piping
  • Industrial mechanical construction
  • Electrical and instrumental installation
  • Boiler and pressure vessel construction
  • Civil and structural works
  • Insulation
  • Welding

Within the company’s industrial piping services, Moreau offers several solutions for clients in the oil and gas industry, along with other markets. Moreau’s capabilities in this area include:

  • Fabrication
  • Installation
  • Inspection
  • Hydro-testing
  • Welding for carbon steel, stainless steel and chrome

Moreau’s experience with industrial mechanical installation gives it added expertise to provide for its clients, the company says. Its services in this regard include the installation of valves, instruments, pumps and heat exchangers.

In electrical and instrumentation work, Moreau says it can handle services such as:

  • Electrical heat trace installation and maintenance
  • Installation of electrical heat trace power and control cables
  • Switch rack power supply installation
  • Instrumentation and controls
  • Commissioning and start-up

For the installation of boilers and pressure vessels, Moreau Industries is ASME Section 8-certified, and is also capable of fabrication. The company’s civil and structural works include forms and concrete construction, as well as the installation of both prefabricated and conventional steel structures.

Moreau’s welding services conform not only to all Canadian provincial and national standards, but also all international codes, the company says. The company is capable of general, high-pressure and specialized welding.

Diverse Projects
One of Moreau’s most prominent current projects is the CNRL Horizon site in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The $66 million plant is being constructed to take advantage of the approximately 6 billion recoverable barrels of oil located in the oil sands about 70 kilometers north of Fort McMurray.

Moreau is bringing its expertise in a number of areas to good use on the project, including mechanical, electrical, civil and insulation.

The company’s work on this particular project includes:

  • Connecting pre-fabricated modules;
  • Removing and replacing defective pipe that was shipped to the site in modules;
  • Installing electrical heat tracing cable control stations and switch-rack buildings;
  • Welding and installing blind flanges for hydro-testing of the cooling water supply and return; and
  • Hydro-testing pipes.

Additionally, in 2005, Moreau Industries handled the piping installation and fabrication for the Seymour Capilano Filtration Plant in Vancouver, British Columbia. This plant was a $4.5 million project.

Quality Is Paramount
Quality assurance and quality control are two of the most important concepts at Moreau Industries, the company says. It says it is never satisfied with the state of its operations and works constantly to ensure that it is always improving.

“With a philosophy of continual development that is supported throughout our organization, Moreau Industries strives to achieve the highest levels of quality performance,” the company says.

“An embedded culture of quality, working in conjunction with our detailed quality management system, ensures that Moreau will repeatedly meet the requirements of our current and future clients,” the company adds.

“Moreau Industries prides itself on the professional quality of our work and the high level of service we provide to our clients,” it continues. “Certified to CSA, ASME and ISO standards and drawing on the vast experience of our project management team, Moreau’s commitment to delivering a quality product is at the core of our foundation.”

Playing It Safe
As far as Moreau’s safety measures are concerned, the company says it relies on the good judgment of its employees and common sense to create a safe working environment on its job sites. Performing work safely and with regard for their fellow workers is the responsibility of every member of Moreau’s work force, the company says.

The company stresses that it works to live up not only to the standards it sets for itself, but also the standards of the industry and customers.

“Safety in the work place is absolutely our first priority,” it says. “This commitment is expressed through our health and safety program, which is designed to ensure compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations and to ensure we comply with our customers’ standards and procedures.

“Every employee of Moreau Industries bears responsibility for safety by identifying, reporting and correcting unsafe conditions and working together as a team to maintain and improve safety in our work sites,” the company adds. “Working safely means using common sense and good judgment, and never taking chances with your safety and that of your fellow workers.”
