Established in 1949, LCG Pence has built a reputation over the decades that today afford the company the opportunity to negotiate the lion’s share of its work. In fact, 75 percent of LCG Pence’s work is from repeat clients. “We’ve got clients that go back many years that use us exclusively, because they know that they can depend on us,” President Terry Loerke says. “We are truly less interested in building one project for ‘a client’ than we are about building partnerships that last.” Loerke explains that LCG Pence began as Dale Pence Construction, a Salem, Ore.-based construction company founded by Dale Pence in 1949. In 2002, the company merged with Loerke’s firm, Loerke Construction Group (LCG), which was based in Portland, Ore. “The merger,” according to Loerke, “was successful because everyone involved shares the same passion for construction. Together, we’ve been able to capitalize and build upon on each other’s strengths. As a result, we have a work force with greater depth of experience, we became more diversified in the types of work we pursue, and we improved our positioning in both Salem and Portland.” Given the diversity of work that LCG Pence performs, the company can be described as a true “general” contractor. Its portfolio of work is deep in commercial and retail, higher education, K-12, healthcare, office, assisted living, financial services, institutional, industrial, mixed-use, high-tech, multi-family residential and community centers. |
