Claggett & Sons has completed a number of school projects in recent years. One of the most recent was the Licking Valley Elementary School in Licking County. The project was completed on an aggressive 13-month schedule with multiple prime contractors.

Claggett & Sons served as the general trades’ contractor and its contract was approximately $10 million. “The building included some curved features, which adds to the complexity and difficulty when you have a compressed schedule” he says.

In 2006, the company completed a project for I.H. Schlessinger Scrap Yard in Columbus. The $500,000 project involved pouring a complex and massive foundation and then assembling a large shearing machine in the scrap yard.

Claggett & Sons also does a large amount of shutdown work for plants. “Those are the most exciting projects – it is very intense work as we work around the clock,” he says. “In July 2007, we did a $150,000 project for Clow Pipe in Coshocton, Ohio, who is an old client we have worked with for 20 years. We took out one of their production lines including the old foundations, installed the new foundations and the new automated line in less than two weeks. The interesting thing about working for Clow or Owens Corning or someone like that is that these plants are producing the very products that we use every day to build buildings for other clients.”

Sister company Claggett Design/Build has been offering a single-source approach to building since 2000. “This company integrates our team of architect, engineer and builder professionals who can best manage the schedule, quality and cost of a project,” Claggett says.
