For A. Servidone Inc. and B. Anthony Construction Corp., a joint venture has not only combined their resources, but also increased “the size of jobs you can do,” Project Manager Mark Sweeney says. “Both companies keep growing [and] so does their capability,” he adds.

With offices in Old Bridge, N.J., and Castleton, N.Y., the companies together specialize in a range of projects, including marine and pile work, landfills and road construction, and major private site work development.

‘Reputation of Excellence’
The companies, which had specialized in heavy highway construction, joined forces in 1988. A. Servidone Inc. was founded in 1985, and today is led by President and owner Mark J. Servidone.

Servidone, whose father, Joseph Servidone, owns his own construction company, gained early experience in the construction industry by spending his summers on job sites. “Years of essential exposure and experience obviously has molded him into a relevant hands-on president and owner of the company,” the company states.

“To date, A. Servidone Inc. has garnered its own reputation of excellence and expertise in the construction field,” the company says. “It has diversified in its comprehensive construction of highways to include flood controls, draining systems, pumping stations which involved earth and rock excavation, and the quarry procurement and placement of stone protection.”

Strong Delivery
B. Anthony was founded in 1983, and is led by President Robert A. Cavaliere, who has 30-plus years’ experience in heavy construction. In addition, Sweeney notes, Cavaliere worked with Joseph Servidone at his company.

“Although the company has excelled in its ability to handle diversified projects, it has never diminished its adeptness to deliver a well-constructed project on schedule,” the company states. B. Anthony also received two safety awards from the Army Corp of Engineers in 1989 and 1998.

In its joint venture with A. Servidone, the company shared a safety award from the Utility and Transportation Contractors Association in 2005.

B. Anthony has completed projects for developers in the private sector, as well numerous districts of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York State Department of Transportation, New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA), New Jersey Water Supply Authority, and numerous counties and municipalities.

B. Anthony’s previous work has included the construction of bridges, roadways, flumes and canals, and storm/surface drainage. “As the demand for rehabilitation and new construction increases, and however these demands may vary, the industry can rely on [us] to perform its distinct role,” it states.

Staying ‘Hands-On’
Sweeney originally was with Joseph Servidone’s company before joining B. Anthony. He was with the company when it formed the joint venture with A. Servidone. He notes that he enjoys the construction industry. “I think it’s a hands-on industry,” Sweeney declares. “I’m [both] in the office and out of the office. You get exposed to a lot of different elements [in this work].”
