The Falls luxury residential condominium development in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, has been dubbed “the ultimate seaside lifestyle” by its developer, Westbank Projects Corp.

The Falls consists of 155 luxury residential units above a retail podium located in downtown Victoria. Westbank Projects says the development will feature amenities including an indoor exercise facility, outdoor pool and sundeck surrounded by aesthetic landscaping elements.

These elements include a 100-foot waterfall that cascades onto the street, and the buildings – designed by James KM Cheng Architects with Laser Projects Corp. as contractor – follow the flow of the water in form and massing,

“Drawing inspiration from the timeless simplicity of master works of modern architecture, The Falls offers a signature urban expression surrounded by elegant gardens and breathtaking waterfalls,” Westbank Projects says. “Indoor and outdoor spaces are designed to blend seamlessly, celebrating Victoria’s relaxed seaside locale while offering residents a truly sophisticated, contemporary lifestyle.”

The Falls offers one-, two- and three-bedroom suites on 18 terraced floors as well as four penthouses. The building also features LEED Silver sustainable architecture.

Interior Finishes
Each unit in The Falls features over-height ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glazing, indoor electric fireplaces, air conditioning, spacious decks and expansive terraces. For interior options, homeowners can choose from “dawn” or “dusk” color schemes, walnut hardwood flooring in living areas, den, family rooms and the dining room, custom textured carpet in the bedrooms, modern electric fireplace with custom stone surround, architectural roller screen window coverings, and Samsung frontloading washer and dryer.

The gourmet kitchens come with contemporary Schiffini Emporium Collezioni cabinetry available in whitened or black pinewood, hardwood walnut flooring throughout the kitchen and imported granite countertops and backsplash, Bosch 30-inch gas cook top, AEG wall oven and dishwasher, Panasonic microwave, Liebherr refrigerator and freezer, double sink and built-in Waste King disposer, and faucet with built-in spray.

The bathrooms contain Schiffini vanities with custom hardware in light or dark American walnut, according to Westbank Projects.

The bathrooms also have marble or travertine flooring, wall tile tub and shower surrounds, marble or limestone vanity tops and backsplash and custom mirrors, frameless glass showers, deck-mounted bathtubs, cast-iron Tea-for-Two bathtubs in the master bathrooms, and Kohler dual flush toilets.

‘Active Development’
Westbank Projects was established in 1992, and the company says it has or is currently developing projects valued at more than $3.8 billion.

The company takes on projects in the mixed-use, retail, office, residential and hotel sectors. “Westbank has evolved over the last few years from being the dominant neighborhood shopping center developer in western Canada to becoming one of the most active development companies on the west coast of North America,” the company says.

Westbank Projects’ portfolio includes prominent projects such as Shaw Tower, Living Shangri-La Woodward’s in Vancouver, British Columbia; Century Park in Edmonton, Alberta; Shangri-La in Toronto; and Azure in Dallas.

“Our product mix includes luxury condominiums, Class-A office space, several neighborhood grocery-anchored shopping centers, live/work units, rental apartments, hotel properties, non-market housing and institutional facilities,” the company says.

“Our versatility is our competitive advantage. We believe future opportunities will lie primarily in the redevelopment of urban lands, which will often involve multiple uses and highly complex entitlement processes.”

‘Unique Expertise’

Westbank Projects says it has a “unique” expertise in high-density residential development with more than 1 million square feet of such towers completed and another 500,000 square feet under development in mixed-use projects.

“The underlying theme of architectural excellence is exemplified in all of Westbank’s residential developments,” the company adds.

Along with The Falls, Westbank Projects is also the developer for Century Park in Edmonton, which encompasses approximately 3.3 million square feet on 43 acres.

This project includes approximately 2,800 residential units, 200,000 square feet of office space, 160,000 square feet of commercial space, and 35,000 square feet of indoor amenity recreation space.

Construction on the project began in 2005 and has a 10-year schedule, according to Westbank Projects.

“This comprehensive development demonstrates Westbank’s ability to bring these different uses together in a thoughtful, cohesive manner,” the company adds.

“Its quality architecture, open spaces, public art features, parks and lake will be enjoyed not only by the residents of Century Park, but by all members of the entire south Edmonton community.”
